After a brief absence TGS was back on again over the past weekend and a few new faces dropped by to mix it up with the regulars. Of course the night was relaxed, yet competitive as usual and I’m sure towards the end of the night people were ready to groove to Boyz II Men and Keith Sweat that had replaced Kanye West and Notorious B.I.G. over the auditorium sound system. Try playing some intense on-ball defense while Four Seasons of Loneliness is bumpin’, it’s quite an experience.

A few days ago I came across this article from the Fox Sports web site that outlined the possibility of an NBA Tour here in Australia, specifically Melbourne. Some big names are involved – reigning MVP Derrick Rose, scoring champ Kevin Durant, elite PG Chris Paul and Lakers’ big man Pau Gasol so this isn’t just some group of b-grade players coming to Oz to play a few pickup games.

With the NBA lockout having no resolution in sight, this event remains very probable and I welcome this proposition. It’s one thing to see D.Rose cross someone over or see KD35 hit jumper after jumper on TV but to see these guys live in their element would be great.

Now we just have to find a way to get these guys to Glebe on a Saturday night in late 2011…

There are plenty of Jordan compilations available on the Internet, but not all of them can reflect artistry of the greatest ever basketball player. Occasionally we do get a fitting tribute to the GOAT and this offering from LK12Productions is one of those glorious highlight reels. It’s so epic it had to be split up into two parts… or is that symbolic of MJ’s pre-first-retirement career and post-first-retirement career?

Hey check it out; I didn’t even know that this site ever existed. I was browsing through nba.com and I came across this post on their blog, it’s for Warner Bros. best selling movie Space Jam. This site was developed 15 years ago and it is still up and running as how it was made originally.

I’m sure you all remember this movie, black and blue 11’s.. MJ and Bugs! Damn, I have to see it again. More info at http://allball.blogs.nba.com/

Match it up guys? Who won, who lost? Who’s in your team?..

It was a slow start at The Glebe Social this week having only 10 players to kick it off but all the guys had a good run during the first game that went on and on and on. Nobody can remember what the score was or how long we were running up and down the courts but I’m pretty sure my team won.

The Glebe Social’s Mix-tape

Jarred fingers, bruised knees, ankles rolling and muscle cramps. This week’s The Glebe Social was definitely one of the most intense weeks we’ve had after 2 hours of hoops. That didn’t stop these boys to get the games on but instead it made them play harder considering it was a freezing cold night. Ouch!!!

The Glebe’s Bench – A bag of mandarins fixes everything…

Got anything planned every Saturday night?? If you’re free, why not spare some time with the Itches crew and shoot some hoops for a few hours at The Glebe Social. Nothing fancy really – no lockouts, just basketball and basketball only.

Head down to Peter Forsyth Auditorium at Glebe (Francis Street – Corner of Franklyn Street Glebe NSW 2037) if you’re interested. Tip-off starts at 7:30pm, games last until 9:30pm ($7 bucks a pop). You’ll be guaranteed to play a few games either half or full-court, so come along and check it out.

Don’t you think Enzo is cute? – We were pretty disappointed that he wasn’t wearing those Canterbury shorts last week. Good to have this guy around though – he’s definitely in my Starting 5.

Re-living the good old days at Fresh In (The Langley FC shirt) – I’m pretty sure you all remember this.

These guys went bananas on week 3 at The Glebe Social (Hanz Wong & Mimi Kumai). They’ll be back for more I reckon, I wonder if Rick Ross’ Sunday night mixed comp team is looking at signing Mimi this season, I know the girls wouldn’t mind a little help each week…

Meet Jordan – my 8 month old Staffy x Bulldog, she’ll be jamming soon…

Ante Up…. In my pants! See you all on Saturday.
